Opensuse 11.1 is what you should be using. It has an up-to-date kernel that should support wireless out-of-box on the Acer as well as other things like card readers and webcam.
There may also be an alternate wireless driver download for your acer designed for suse 11.0.

Yes. You can try ndiswrapper. Here is an rpm for a gui manager for ndiswrapper. Easy enough to use a terminal as well.

Your Acer should have the artheros chipset supported by madwifi. There could be an updated package for Suse 11. that will give you working wireless.

According to the OpenSuse wiki the Wireless should work out of the box on 11.1
Quote:
Wireless

In OpenSUSE 11.1 wireless adapter should work out-of-the-box.

For OpenSUSE 11.0, install madwifi package from this repository. In Yast, choose r3725+AR5007EG version on 'Version' tab for all madwifi* packages (they require openSUSE_11.0_Update main repository to be enabled).

I have wireless working flawlessley in Debian on my Acer Aspire One, following the Debian AAO wiki.
Certainly a lot more hands on than the 'everything works out of the box Distros' but I don't mind getting my hands dirty when doing an install and the directions were very specific.

ndiswrapper.. Yuck.

the Atheros ar5007 in the Aspire One requires the OpenHAL driver from the madwifi project

i thought i would post my results as i managed to get this working and its the top result on google

following a guide in linux format magazine i compiled a later kernel and it now works perfectly and to fix the 11.1 bug just change the session to kde - failsafe and it will work then install and everything will work as normal
