armada 7800 and a modem

greetings!

after much aggravation, I have successfully installed fedora core 1 on my armada 7800. Got the sound to work, then the wireless. Now I can't get the internal modem to work to save my life. Does anyone know where a driver can be found for this system? one thing that is confusing me further is i am not sure exactly what kind of modem is in this thing...

I've searched and all I find are BS advertisments....

Thanks in advance!!!

Heck no, and I've been everywhere.

I found the part number here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=31534

And the upgrade file (for Windows of course), not that we care about that (except that I did a bit of peeking around to see if the type of chipset was listed). You could try doing some more looking around in the driver files for the name of the chipset if you like.

Soooo, what we need now is the name of the chipset to determine which driver to use (if there is such a driver).

But just a suggestion, forget the Winmodem and get an external or PCMCIA one instead. Be sure that it works with linux first, and you won't every have to fool with it again.

Unfortunately it's not enough to know that it's a Lucent chipset, you would have to know which Lucent chipset it was. And that is where I was stuck, I knew that it was Lucent

Anyways, looking at the Winmodem page, you might be in luck. There is a vendor-supplied linux driver for the M700.

Start here, more for reference than anything else:
http://www.linmodems.org/

Go here:
http://start.at/modem

Pick one of the mirror sites and look in the PCI list. The device listed is an Askey.

Good luck,

John

http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/scanModem.gz

Go to this link and get the utility , it will yield a lot of info
about your modem. These people ( Mr. Stodolsky)
were very helpful to me in the past.

it appears that after running that handy program, it returned nothing that i could understand.

No brand name, no data worth anything -- just a whole bunch of gibberish.

I will post it for the nerdy guys out there to take a look at and possibly figure out what kind of modem is in it.... but being i'm at work, i can't do it right now..

anywho -- thanks for your assistance so far!

all i want is for the blasted modem to work!!
