apm suspend-to-disk

Well, I had slackware running on my laptop for a little while, and about a month or so ago, I switched it to gentoo. Now, on slack, whenever the laptop would run out of power, it would suspend to disk. On gentoo it just dies =]. Well, on gentoo I was using acpi. so I switched over to apm again, and now, yay, I can suspend with apm -s. But im wondering: how do I actually get a suspend to disk, like it was before with slack?
