Can someone tell me the proper way to install ALSA on a Gentoo setup on an Alienware Area-51m?
I can't find out what model number my sound card is..i'm having a major problem getting it to work..
I actually have it halfway working, but it's in half duplex mode and I get errors when other programs try using the sound card when nothing is using it..

Have you tried running
Code:
lspci
or
Code:
cat /proc/pci
to see if either one displays what your sound card is?
