Agere Wavelan Wireless configuration Jornada 720 w/ icewm

I have an Agere Wavelan wireless card, and an Orinoco silver. I have a Jornada 720 running icewm. The Agere card lights up when I plug it in, the orinoco does nothing. I was wondering if there is a way to get them to actively search networks or if there is something I should edit within icewm to get them to work? I did the iwconfig and this is what I get:

Some things may be broken...

eth0 IEEE 802.11b ESSID: "" Nickname: "HermesI"
Modw: Managed Frequency: 2.422 GHZ Access Point:44:44:44:44:44:44
Bit Rate:11Ms/s Sensitivity:1/3
Retry Limit:4 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
Encryption key:off
Power Management:off
Link Quality=0/92 Signal level=134/153 Noise level=134/153
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

I know the SSID of a few APs I would like to connect to, but am really interested in connecting at hotspots and the like.

Thank you in advance for any help you could offer.

I finally got it working! I have an Agere Wavelan card, and for some reason it will not connect to WEP or WPA encryption, which I will have to research further, but I turned all encryption off and am using MAC filtering to only allow my palmtop and my Wii to connect and it works! I know this is not really a fix, but I was getting nowhere with udhcp essid your_mom and inputting my encryption key, and it would simply not work if I input the key, no matter how many times I did it...

Anyhoo, it works!
