Actions for KLaptop

Hi everyone!

I am using Debian Etch and KDE on my laptop. The battery monitor provided by Klaptop works great as long as you just look at the percentages of battery load. However, the remaining time is always totally messed up (extremely wrong) and therefore the warnings issued by the program if the battery is low are very confusing. Most often those warnings start when the battery has a load of something like 20%, when the time shows something like 10min left (which is wrong!). Then every single minute another warning message appears for something like 20 or 30minutes until the battery is down to 5% and then, I either turn the laptop off or give it some energy back

So my question is: can I change the settings somehow, so that the warnings do not show up relative to the time left, but rather to the actual percentage of load???

Thanks for any answers!

Hi
Go to Control Center > Power control > Laptop battery , in ACPI Config tag , click on Setup Helper Application , then enter your root password , then enable "Enable performance profiles"
You may rerun the control center , go back to that section again , in "Low Battery Warning/Critial" you can change the values you just asked

Regards
Arsham

Hmmmm ... what is weird: When I click on Setup Helper Application, I am prompted to enter the root password and after doing so, nothing happens. Any ideas?

I have a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo M 7400. So far I have already had many problems trying to set up wireless components or mobile features like battery or cpu control ...

I tried what you said and this happened:
Code:
# modprobe acpi acpi_cpufreq ac battery
FATAL: Error inserting acpi_cpufreq
(/lib/modules/2.6.15-1-686/kernel/arch/i386/kernel/cpu/cpufreq/acpi-cpufreq.ko):
Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
Then I did dmesg and here are the ACPI lines:
Code:

seems that you have acpi ac battery modules , but acpi_cpufreq , anyways
try again in control center and see if you can enable the things
