ACPI shuts down the laptop!

here's the thing:

i installed and compiled kernel 2.6 on my laptop (the distro is KANOTIX) just to get cpufreq working. Now i have that working but everytime i put the laptop on standby using the command:

echo 1 > /proc/acpi/sleep

wich is the command i normally use on all distros, when i try to wake the computer from standby it just shuts down!
By the way when i was choosing the options upon installation of the kernel i chose to built directly into the kernel all options regarding ACPI.

Does anyone know how to solve this?

Thank you

actualy no.
these kinda problems are caused by incorect ACPI tables in hardware. thas a common problem.

try to put on http://acpi.sourceforge.net

maybe will help, anyway i have IBM thinkpad R40 and yet - no succes for me too. APM works, but ACPI don't.

gotta do a little kernel hacking'
