ACPI issues / Boot Hangups in Slackware Distros
Hi! I'm having some problems booting Zenwalk 4.8. During the boot, I get this wonderful hangup:
Code:
pcmcia: parent pci bridge memory window: 0xc8400000 - 0xc84fffff And it hangs on the last line. This is what I get from lspci: Code:
00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/PM/GMS, 943/940GML and 945GT Express Memory Controller Hub (rev 03) Now, what I'd usually do is use acpi=off to boot my computer, but it's certainly a bother not being able to keep track of my battery power and being unable to fully shut down / suspend / etc. So, any suggestions as to what I could do besides use acpi=off? I'm rather stumped... |
If Slackware is causing such problems and Debian doesn't, then it would seem prudent to go with Debian. Is there some reason why not?
Aside from that, I have no suggestions. I must confess my ignorance of what Zenwalk is. ;) |
You have a Dell Latitude, or similar, don't you?
Edit out the 0x800-0x80f range in your /etc/pcmcia/config.opts |
Hi guys,
I have the same problem. My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite Pro, and I'm running slackware 12. I'd like to try with solution proposed by elliott678, but as a totally absolutely newbie as I am, What must I edit in that file?, Sorry for this silly question... |
Linux - Toshiba Laptop Boot Hangup in Slackware Solved !!!
Hi guys,
I've tried with elliott678 solution, and it works for me. Thanks a lot. I just edited my /etc/pcmcia/config.opts file, removing "port 0x800-0x80f" of "include" line, reboot and great!!!, none hangup. Thanks elliot. |
Same problem with Slackware 12 and Toshiba Satellite
I've the same problem. Removing "port 0x800-0x80f" in /etc/pcmcia/config.opts file don't works in Slackware 12. Then I'm using append="acpi=off noapic" in /etc/lilo.conf.
Some suggestion to resolve this problem? |
