you can try the drivers from intel but I wish you luke.
I have a TravelMate 660 that also uses an intel graphic chipset and all the times I tryed th intel driver with FC2 and FC3 the didn't even boot up completely.
Take a look at the file /var/log/Xorg.0.log and try to figure out what resolution modes your graphic card supports, configure your /etc/X11/xorg.conf accordingly.
Take care with the refresh rates on the "Monitor" section, on the "Screen" section configure the graphic resolution you want, something like this:
Modes "1280x800" "other res." "other res." "800x600" "640x480"
