Are above components (except CPU) well supported? sorry I don't have chipset model numbers for wired and wifi lan (acer web page) don't seem to have that info.
What Linux destro you know for certain work with the above laptop?
Also I am thinking of buying a firewire express card for the above laptop, any cards that you recommend?
I would start by checking the Linux Laptop sites for HOW_TO's for your laptop model. you should be able to get a good idea of what will work,. and what might give you trouble,
I did do a search before starting a new topic but came empty.
I checked the links you given me and the first three links which refers to
dell, HP and lenvo so those three are out since I am looking for acer aspire 5535.
Out of the last 3 links none of them had the model I was looking for,
the closest they had (in LinLap and linux-on-laptops) was a aspire 5530
(which was using similar cpu and same graphics). It seem that linux FC9
can be installed in aspire 5535 but have to do bit of work to get it to work fully.
Hopefully FC10 will have better support.
May be late to the party, but I'm running Kubuntu Jaunty 64 on my Acer 5535 right now with no problems. It does seem to have issues with hibernating, but I haven't really bothered to sort that out. I've got it dual booting. Wifi and Sound were detected. I'm pretty pleased with it.
