Acer Aspire 5004WLMi, can bios update solve smart battery problem?

Hi!
My laptop has Smart Battery System, I have try to patch the kernel and recompile and try to fix that broken DSDT, but without any luck. I found a post in one threat:

After updating to the 3A32 BIOS everything works without having to patch the kernel to workaround the 3A27 BIOS broken DSDT issue

If I will update the bios, do I still need some smart battery drivers for Linux or should it run just with battery module? Thank you!

I read about the fixing of the DSDT on Acers because of other issues not Linux related. A friend of mine has an Acer (not same model) an applied the bios updates and fixes the DSDT issue. About all I know.
