2nd Hard Drive Adapter in Expansion Bay

I am in need of some assistance. I recently purchased an adapter for my second hard drive and can not get it installed/mounted under SuSE 8.2.

The problem is that the computer sees the hardware, but it is not reading the partition table. Therefore I can not get linux to see the hard drive thus eliminating the reason i bought it. I thought it might be a hardware problem, but when i boot to XP (I am dual booting XP and SuSE), XP recongizes it and I can read and write from it.

Any help that anyone could provide would be of great assistance.

Thanks!

Specs
Toshiba TE 2100 Laptop
Toshiba Slim Select Bay HDD Apaptor Model - PA3134U-1ETC
Dual Boot XP and SuSE 8.2
