How to get 1280x800 framebuffer?

Intel X3100 (GM965) HP-Compaq 6710s

i try to boot with

video=intelfb:1280x800-60,accel,mtrr

but that doesn't work - still plain-text console

Not possible, close as you can get is 102x768

All the modes possible(best viewed using a mono-space font);

There is a fix available that will give you 1280x800 resolution under X. It is available at http://www.geocities.com/stomljen/. I use it on this machine and it gives me true 1280x800 resolution. It seems to work in console mode as well once it is invoked. Give it a try!
