ive got a dell e1505 w/ vista and i hate it b/c of a few things. my ? is are there any linux distros that work "out of the box" so to speak besides ubuntu linux?
Both are relatively easy to get going out of the box (or off the ISO as it were). The only thing you might have trouble with is getting wireless working. But that can be easy enough if you've got a Broadcom or Atheros chipset (lspci can be your friend here). In either case you just have to download the firmware for either chipset, copy the files to /lib/firmware, then reboot (can probably just get away with a modprobe here).
lol both. i kinda got used to it for a while b/c i had it tweaked a little but its gone back to crap lately. im pretty sure ive got broadcom chipset but the rest of what you said is greek to me :P i guess ill do some googling and see what i come up with. thanks.
