With kernel update Haupauge HVR900 doesn't work anymore

I have made a regular update to 3.0.101 of my OpenSuse 11.4 EVERGREEN. I cleaned my media_build and got the latest linux TV drivers with git clone git://linuxtv.org/media_build.git. I followed the instructions and doesn't get any errors during compilation and install.
The TV-Tuner is found:
Code:
Bus 001 Device 005: ID 2040:6502 Hauppauge WinTV HVR-900
The firmware is found and initialized:
Code:

In short: upgrade your kernel to a version above 3.0.

I had the same problem with a HVR-4000 after upgrading from 2.x to 3.0 kernel series under Ubuntu some time ago.
After a lot of research and unsuccessful workarounds, it came out that 3.0 is broken for these cards.
I then decided to downgrade the kernel to the last 2.x and wait. Meanwhile, it works again, using Kernel 3.2.0-xx of Ubuntu 12.04LTS.

If you can't find a more current kernel, consider upgrading the whole distribution. If I read it correct, even that Evergreen release will reach end of life soon.
