virtualbox kernel

i have installed my virtualbox,i was trying to install windows xp and it was complaining that kernel is not installed.i don't know how to solve the problem.

What is the exact message and is it from linux, or windows, also is it when starting VBox or when trying to create the VM or while installing Windows? Also did you install from source or did you install precompiled binaries?
