/scripts/emerge-kernel.sh errors out in Sabayon mini

Hey,
Went out today and got a 160GB WD caviar and a DVD that included Sabayon minied. It installed nicely, and booted into KDE. Per the instructions I ran 'sh /scripts/emerge-kernel.sh'. It throws a screaming duckfit, with the top error being that it can't find kernel-2.elist. I have googled this but I can't find anything. I can't sync portage because my modem is not installed. The ltmodem packages seem to be installed, and I have a spare lucent modem, should I install it? thanks
