Question Reverting back to default Kernel CentOS

Hi,

I have a VPS that is currently running a custom kernel. I have spoke with the manager and they say I am more within my rights to revfert this back to default (Which i want to do)

I have ran thge following commands:

yum install kernel
yum upgrade

and then I rebooted. However I cannot get the VPS to load the default kernel. When you use the uname -r command it outputs the custom kernel version.

The VPS does not appear to have a bootloader.

I am wondering what command I need to run in order to tell the VPS to boot to the new kernel on reboot.

If someone could assist me I would be very greatful

OS is currently CentOS 5.4 Final

Kind Regards and Thanks in advance

Do you mean "Virtual Private Server"?

I infer that CentOS is running on a virtual machine. There has to be at least the equivalent of a bootloader. Assuming that both kernels are in /boot, then **something** is telling it which one to boot.

Is there a grub directory in /boot? If so, does it have a config file in it (eg menu.lst)?

Yes it's a Virtual Private Server.

I've looked in /boot and there is nothing in that directory other than the new kernel boot images... however the system still seems to be loading the old kernel somehow.

Unsure which bootloader if any it's using... it's definately not using GRUB or LILO

Regards
