put_user and semaphore

I thought I read somewhere that put_user is assured to be semaphore protected and __put_user was not? I can't find where I read it but I would like someone to tell me I was not dreaming when I read that and to confirm it for me.

Thanks!

Perhaps at https://github.com/? Most of the discussions I've seen are found there. Also, the function is kernel level so I'd take a look-see in the kernel documentation maybe starting at http://kernel.org/doc/.

Hope this helps some.
