Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

1. make menuconfig (I didn't make any change here)
2. make bzImage
3. make modules
4. make modules_install
5. Copied the bzImage & System.map to the /bool folder as vmlinuz-220.127.116.11 and System.map-18.104.22.168 and created the initrd using the mkinitrd. Name of the file is initrd-22.214.171.124
6. Added the follwoing to the menu.lst of GRUB.
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-126.96.36.199 root=/dev/sda7 vga=0x31a resume=/dev/sda8 splash=silent showopts
7. Now when I restart the machine using this new kernel I'm getting the following error. FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/188.8.131.52-xen/modules.dep : File or directory not found
But when I check the corresponding directory the file is there
