problem in compiling kernel 2.6.12.3


Hi,
after compiling when i tried to boot, it is giving following errors



mount: could not find filesystem '/dev/root'
setuproot: moving /dev failed: No such file or directory
setuproot: error mounting /proc: No such file or directory
setuproot: error mounting /sys: No such file or directory
switchroot: mount failed: No such file or directory
Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!


Plz help me to solve this....

Did you compile support for your root (/) filesystem into the kernel or create an initrd image that contains support for it?
