There is a strange phenomena when the vfat filesystem is used.
Here is the log:
root /lib/modules/2.6.24-186-g43e77a6/kernel/drivers/ide$ fdisk /dev/hda -l

Disk /dev/hda: 40.0 GB, 40007761920 bytes
16 heads, 63 sectors/track, 77520 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 1008 * 512 = 516096 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1 1 19377 9765976+ b Win95 FAT32
/dev/hda2 19378 77520 29304072 c Win95 FAT32 (LBA)

root /lib/modules/2.6.24-186-g43e77a6/kernel/drivers/ide$ mount -t vfat /dev/hda2 /mnt/hda2

Only vfat have this issue, there is no such kind of issue when ext2/3 are used.
