Nowatchdog - system hangs on boot

I have been enjoying fedora 29 recently on my Toshiba laptop. Plenty of memory and HD space. I did a sudo dnf update as I often do, however this time it does not finish. It seems to be doing the update but hangs on the "Watchdog did not finish". I get this message when I am forced to hit CTL_ALT_DEL to restart. At that point I see a quick message appear briefly "Startin Hold until boot process finishes up... " - Previous updates have worked fine.
Not sure how I can get by this hold/stall.
Suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.
~ Ron

Note, this is a re-post.

Hello,

I thought I did what you suggested..

I went to the software Kernel forum and opened a new thread on Nowatchdog. Obviously I have not looked for help too often and am pretty unfamiliar with the format.

Thank you.

Ron

You should be pretty good at Linux to run the latest Fedora. You can try switching to a terminal (CTRL+ALT+F2) and kill the upgrade process.
