newly compiled kernel problem
 
hello,i'm a new man to kernel and today i update it to 2.6.19,i tried several times and at last i succeeded but the kernel cannot find the nvidia module and so i can't use the X.what'e the problem?anyone could tell me?

Are you using the nvidia drivers from nvidia.com? If so, you have to recompile the nvidia drivers each time you upgrade your kernel.

I would rerun either the nvidia installation program or the "tiny-nvidia-installer" program on SuSE using the "--update" option to download a newer version if it exists and start the compilation process. You need to log out of your windows manager first (kde, gnome, or whatever), su to root and "init -3" to stop the server first. After that, accept the license and selecting yes is all you need to do to install a new nvidia kernel module. There are options to specify a kernel version and compile the module, but using --update is the easiest way to do it.
