Newbie: SUSE Linux 10 kernal update requires running lilo before boot
I installed a kernal patch and it requires running the lilo bootloader before I reboot. I can find lilo under /sbin but it will not run because it cannot find lilo.conf under /etc.
Is there an easy way to get the lilo.conf file or will it have to be recreated from scratch? I have found some lilo installation instructions that provide a line-by-line example. I can try to type it all in but I am wondering if there is a better way.:study: I don't know why the lilo.conf file is not in the /etc directory. Maybe I'll try searching for it somewhere else. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide;) |
Hi -
If think that message actually means: "*IF* you're running lilo, then you need to do ... with "lilo". "Lilo" and "Grub" are two boot loader programs. By default, SuSE 10 uses Grub. Bottom line: why not just try rebooting? You might not have to do anything at all: it might "just work". Your .. PSM |
