new kernel, menuconfig - important options disabled

Hello,

I need to extract the ipv6 completely out my the kernel because of crappy router firmware and I decided to compile my own kernel. I downloaded the latest stable kernel from www.kernel.org (2.6.20.3), extracted it, but when I ran
Code:
make menuconfig
some important options are disabled.
I don't know how to enable them , they can't be changed to '*' or 'M'.

Here is the screenshot:

Look at the "VGA Text Console" for example.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Did you enable "Experimental" features in one of the early prompts? If you say no, it just grays out a bunch of boxes...

If you mean "Prompt for development and/or incomplete code/drivers" in the first submenu "Code maturity level options" then, yes.

I have it enabled and there are still some important options like "VGA Text Console" that are greyed out.
