name mapping change for SCSI devices on kernel 2.6

Hi all,

I am newly joined member. The is my first post. I don't know the exact forum where I have to post my question, I hope this is the relevant forum.

My question is SCSI device name mapping is changing on kernel 2.6 onwards is it true?? if so, why is this happening?? and how this name mapping effects the already existing software packages like the pkgs in storage domain.

If any one of you know the anw pls respond ASAP.

Thanks,
lakshmi
