I'm using a Debian system that I installed from Knoppix 5.1.1. That's running on a 2.6.19 i believe. Now I've downloaded the source of 2.6.26.6. In the beginning make config/menuconfig/xconfig didn't work at all so I tried to uninstall gcc and reinstall it. Again no help. Then with google I found I needed some other utils so I installed this:

Yes!! Now "make menuconfig" works but still make xconfig doesn't want to work. Now I get this:
