lm-sensors temperature 7 degress less

Hi,

My bios reports a CPU temperature approximately 7 degrees higher than what is reported by lm-sensors. Is there any way I can add an offset to the temperature reported in linux?

I tried running sensors-detect again, and added the lines to /etc/modules, but it remained the same

I have a Core2Duo E6550, on a NVidia nForce 630i chipset.

(The current room temperature 4 degrees is more than the CPU temperature reported in Linux, so I'm guessing the Bios is reporting the proper temperature)

Any suggestions ?
Thanks

Have a look at /etc/sensors.conf. It's a heavily-commented file, so if you read through it carefully, it should be possible for you to figure out what settings to change to adjust it to show the correct temperature.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply!

I went through the /etc/sensors.conf file, but wasn't able to locate the lines pertaining to my chip. Instead, I found that the gnome sensors-applet allows adding a temperature offset. I'm satisfied with this for the time being.
