Linux Kernel on Development Board

Hello all, recently I was asked the following questions in an interview :

1) How will you proceed if the kernel source code that you downloaded does not support your board? What are the steps you will take?

2) Write all the directories in linux that will be visible to you on your system and the directories of your kernel source code that you have downloaded. Differentiate between both.

Anyone have got any idea ?

only post the exact same question in ONE forum
and not in 4 different ones !

only posting in the MOST relevant place will get you better answers
this is a duplicate of the first one
