libata problem

I have a faulty hdd which for setup reasons I cannot remove at all. I deactivated it from BIOS and everything boots fine, however, I get well over 30 seconds of errors that look like this :

Code:

ata1.00: ATA-6: WDC WD400JB-00JJC0, 05.01C05, max UDMA/100
ata1.00: 78165360 sectors, multi 0: LBA
ata1.01: ata_hpa_resize 1: hpa sectors (0) is smaller than sectors (40021444)
ata1.01: ATA-6: Maxtor ATHENA, WAH21PBZ, max UDMA/100
ata1.01: 40021444 sectors, multi 0: LBA
ata1.00: configured for UDMA/100
ata1.01: failed to set xfermode (err_mask=0x1)
ata1: failed to recover some devices, retrying in 5 secs

How can I deactivate this ata1 from the boot command line?

remove the faulty disk, toss it away and get a new one. hard disks are cheap.
