kernel panic using 2.4.27-AMDK6

Hi all!

I have encountered a serious problem.
On an ACORP 5ALI61 mainboard, AMD K6II CPU 256 M RAM MAXTOR 40 GB HDD machine I run a DEBIAN 3.1r2 sarge and a WIN98 SE with LILO boot manager. Until 3 weeks before the system was OK, but sunce then I get more and more often an Aiiieeeeeee! Kernel panic message from linux. It is referring to a Kernel NULL pointer dereference or it is saying Interrupt handler not syncing.

I have tried to reinstall DEBIAN, but the installer`s kernel has produced the same fault also. I tried to run a KNOPPIX live cd, but the same error happened that time also.

I would be thankful if anyone helped me resolving this problem.

I used the Ultimate Boot CD to check if there any hardware faults, but the processor, the memory and the HDD tests are all negative, so no errors are found.

The time interval between the first panic identified and the last one from the boot time is constantly decreasing. So at first I managed to work on the DEBIAN for a couple of minutes(3 weeks ago), but now the kernel initialisation is the sole thing which is carried out before the panic message

Thanks for any suggestions!!

P.S.: I`ve started a new thread, because I did not find any answers in the previously opened ones!

Kernel panic

Yrrah responding.
On my las PC I also ran two systems, but now i have got a new second hand from my son.Motherboard is an Intel 845 of which Intel says they don't support it anymore. HDD I am not sure, but I think it is a Maxtor 40GB. Whatever I try, a floppy disc, aRed Hat CD, or connecting my old harddisc, I always get the message "kernel panic! unable to mount!
