Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!
 
i am trying to compile linux-2.6.12.3
it is compiling but when i tryed to boot i got foolowing msg please help me to come out of this problem....

i got this warning at last while installing

WARNING: No module viamraid found for kernel 2.6.12.3, continuing anyway


i got following msg while booting

mkrootdev: label / not found
mount: error 2 mounting ext3
ERROR opening /dev/console !!!!: 2
error dup2'ing fd of 0 to 0
error dup2'ing fd of 0 to 1
error dup2'ing fd of 0 to 2
switchroot: mount failed: 22

I am just making a stab in the dark here, but I am guessing all of the subsequent errors are derived from the first error of not finding the viamraid module. A quick internet search leads me to suspect that this is a binary only driver that you must download. You might try doing your own internet search and see what you find.

If you need to post back, you should tell us what kind of hardware you are using, what distro you are using, etc.
