Kernel panic issue

Hi guys,
once in a while my debian lenny gets a kernel panic error. It goes like this:
kernel panic not syncing: stopping for safety

Is that a hardware problem? Do I need to upgrade my kernel?

Looking up for installed kernel, got this:
i   linux-image-2.6.14-2-686-smp                                          - Linux kernel 2.6.14 image on PPro/Celeron/PII/PIII/P4 SMP machines
i linux-image-2.6.19 - Linux kernel binary image for version 2.6.19
id  linux-image-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-686                                    - Linux 2.6.24 image on PPro/Celeron/PII/PIII/P4
is that ok? something tells me it isn't.

Can you attach kernel panic information, such as dmesg?

i don't how to use dmesg correctly. I tried to execute it and got lots of (and only) network traffic messages from iptables like this:
# dmesg
3.163.94 LEN=40 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=122 ID=3952 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=1166 DPT=80 WINDOW=0 RES=0x00 ACK RST URGP=0
IN=eth1 OUT=eth0 SRC= DST= LEN=40 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=122 ID=3953 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=1169 DPT=80 WINDOW=0 RES=0x00 ACK RST URGP=0
