Kernel panic immediately upon boot only w/ 2.6
Hi all,
I have a new Slackware 11 installation that seems to only be able to boot the 2.4 kernel. When I try installing/booting from the CD with 2.6, right after the LILO prompt it gives: BIOS data check successful. Uncompressing Linux... Ok, booting the kernel. Unknown fault or interrupt at EIP 00000060 c0100231 00000230 It then repeats the last line over and over for about 5 seconds until it just reboots. However, the 2.4 kernel works just fine. I honestly don't know what specs to give for this, but I'm running an Asus P4GV-LA with a 2.66GHz Celeron D processor, 248MB DDR SDRAM. Can anyone help? I googled it and it seems that everyone with this or a similar problem (a grand total of about 3 people) also have an Asus motherboard. Thanks in advance! |
Try to pass the option
"acpi=off" to the kernel http://www.google.com/search?q=Unkno...t+EIP+00000060 |
