kernel compilation error ..

I'm using Redhat linux, montavista kernel 2.4.18 version.
I want to make the kernel detect the USB pen drive. For that i enabled the option in the kernel and when i try to compile it im getting compilation error in drivers/usb/devio.c as follows:

Invalid reference for list_for_each_entry and
Invalid reference for list_move_tail.

I have checked the list.h file but these functions are not defined in that header.

How to resolve this compilation issue?
