Question Kernel Boot Options - Acer Travelmate 2413LM Chipset Driver

Hi,

I'm running an Acer TravelMate 2413LM.

When i boot with nosplash, it says:

8139cp 0000:06:07.0: This (id 10ec:8139 rev 10) is not an 8139C+ compatible chip

8139cp 0000:06:07.0: Try the "8139too" driver instead.

How do i specify which chipset driver to use?

I'm guessing its done in the boot options at boot, but which switch and value do i need to specify?

Thanks,

Matthew Millar

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Does networking via ethernet currently work? If so, you do not need to do anything and can just ignore the message.

Hi Reddazz,

I'm trying to run the Ubuntu Live CD.

The system logins in, i.e loads GDM, but freezes on the desktop.

I can see the Ubuntu 8.04 Heron deskop image, but it has a white square (possibly a 640x480 square, if the system has defaulted to 1024x768) in the top left hand corner, covering the desktop image.

There are several errors during boot, which i'll post when i have access to the laptop.

Thanks,

Matthew Millar

I'm running Ubuntu Live from a Flash Drive.

Is there a way that i can export the boot log onto the flash drive so i can attach it to this thread?

Also how indepth do you need the log?

What switches should i remove/add, for the log to be of use for you?

Thanks,

Matthew Millar

You really need to start separate threads for your other two questions because they do not seem to be related to the networking issue.
