I have few questions before to give an answer:
How are you loading the kernel image? what boot loader?
how are you compiling the kernel? what configuration?

@jb_gpk

Hi I am using grub bootloder .And I am using default configuration on my i386 architecture.

I am using following steps

make defconfig
make
make modules
make modules_install
make install

As if I am using these default steps by kernel should load right?
Not doing any thing else.
I have also checked entry in boot.conf file .It is proper.

Please correct me if I'm wrong,
Until now I understood the that you followed the steps:

* compiled the kernel source with
make defconfig
make make modules
make modules install
make install

* updated the grub with the command
$update-grub
at this point grub create a entry for the new image on the configuration file

*rebooting your machine you are now see the new kernel image on the grub menu, you choose it and grub load the kernel image to the memmory.

*After the last point your screes is black and no kernel messages are displayed,
and it stay like this forever.

Ok. your image is functional, it seems like it is a bootloader issue, because if the kernel starts to run you can see the at least some messages, and if for some reason it crash it print the error message about the error.

please review the bootloader steps.
