I am using Ubuntu Jaunty, kernel version used is 2.6.28-19-generic, there are some modules which are not built by default in Jaunty, so I tried to include those modules manually by downloading kernel 2.6.28.19 and building it, but after building the kernel I am unable to run that module, so is kernel version 2.6.28.19 and 2.6.28-19-generic same or different?
Your 2.6.28-19-generic is a ubuntu kernel, and has been patched by ubuntu.
I don't use ubunut, but the -19 probably means that is their 19th build, or
release of 2.6.28.
There is no 2.6.28.19 from kernel.org ... the latest Linux kernel in that
series is 2.6.28.10.
Sorry I had made a mistake while mentioning the kernel version.
There are some kernel modules (*.ko) missing in ubuntu-9.04 version, in order to include these modules can you suggest which kernel version I need to download and build so that the built kernel module is compatible with the one in ubuntu?
