Exclamation Kernal Panic Error

I atmepted to add another slave IDE 250GB drive to my Debian server and this is the error that I got can someone please tell me how to fix this:

[Console Output]

/dev/ide/host0/bus1/target0/lun0: p1 p2 < p5 >
pivot_root: No such file or directory
/sbin/init: 432: cannot open dev/console: No such file
Kernel panic: Attempted to kill init!

can you post your boot config? lilo or grub? perhaps you have a wrong or missing kernel parameter. mostly with root=* (or real_root=*?)...

I fixed it. The new hard drive as built in Cable Select and some cables were not connected right. Thanks for you rapid respone.
