Issue with kernel headers with VirtualBox install.

Hello everyone. I started to compile my own kernels. I compiled and install the kernel with its own headers. Im trying to install Virtualbox nut its having trouble finding my kernel headers.

Here is the command I used to compile and create the deb files I installed,
Code:
fakeroot make-kpkg -j3 --initrd --append-to-version=-1 kernel_image kernel_headers
And it seems like my headers have installed.
Code:
$ ls -l /usr/src/linux-headers-3.10.9-1/
total 880

Let me know if there is anything you need to help me. I'm running Elementary OS a Ubuntu 12.04 derivative.

My headers are in the /usr/src directory. I think there is a link issue but im not sure which symbolic links need created. Since the last post I recompiled a few times. Here are the only two links I know of.
/lib/modules/3.10.9-3/source -> /usr/src/linux-headers-3.10.9-3
/lib/modules/3.10.9-3/build -> /usr/src/linux-headers-3.10.9-3

Ok here is what I think fixed it. I created a symbolic link in /usr/src/linux to the directory of my current kernel headers. Next there seemed to been a problem with the version of Virtual Box in the repositories and my kernel 3.10.9. So I downloaded the latest version from Oracle and it finally compiled. I hope this helps anyone who runs into the same issue.
