Initrd as a root filesystem howto

Hi all,
I have to use initrd file as a root filesystem for my mini embedded linux. I don't want to use separate root filesystem. i need to create mini filesystem with linux. so how do i edit init file to use initrd as a rootfilesystem instead of mounting separate filesystem.

Quick responce would be appriciated

Thanks and advance
Siva.
