Question i wanna know more about kernels, but where to start?


actually im new in using linux, but i really really wanna learn about kernels.. im starting with the basics..

where can i start?

"Understanding the Linux Kernel" by O'Reilly Media
is a good book... But I think google is the best book..

WHOA* seems though it will take me years to learn those stuffs.. is there anyone who can give me the general image on how kernel works? in simple words.. the practical usage of kernel

This is my recommendation.

Mimic your Linux Distro in some sort of Virtual Environment, like Virtual Box and from there you can start to learn more about Kernels, like how to compile them, without risking your day-to-day Linux box.

Once you feel comfortable enough, you can then take that knowledge and apply it to your production box.
