how to write sniffer driver

hi there,

i am stuck with the idea of writing a sniffer driver(which will sniff the incoming tcp/ip packet and maintains a log of it) over last 6 months or so. please let me guide how to start with it. i have gone the LKMG,so i can say that the basics about kernel programming are in place.
your valuable guidance required.

regards,
gaurav holey

Why do not use tcpdump for this purpose? If you want to capture the packets by a user application look at packet(7).
