Red Hat and Novell SuSE have made a deliberate decision to remove certain audio codecs from applications that already support them. If you go to google.com and enter the following in the search box you will see several web pages at redhat.com that explain the policy.
Some Linux distros have the naughty codecs for audio and video available in their software package repositories. It is easy to install them. One such Linux distro is PCLinuxOS, which is available at pclinuxos.org.
