Question How does Kernel work with process management system???

I wondering how does kernel work with process management system.
If anybody have an idea abt that?

like, if i wanna execute a application, lets say vim in linux,
what will the kernel do step by step to communicate with the
process management system to get the application work?

Thank you!

I only did a quick scan of this, but it looks pretty detailed: http://www.informit.com/articles/art...?p=370047&rl=1

You could also google "linux process management" like I did.
