How do we know that the current kernel supports framebuffer device or not?

Is there any way of knowing that the current kernel supports framebuffer device or enabled for framebuffer device? In general, how do we know what are the configurations/modules/drivers supported in the current running kernel? I'm using Fedora core 5 (kernel-2.6.15-1.2054_FC5).

Code:
>$ grep -i fb /boot/config-2.6.17-ck1-smp
# CONFIG_BLK_DEV_OFFBOARD is not set
# CONFIG_FB is not set <---------------
At least if I remember correctly from when I used to use it check your config for it being set.

That is telling you it is enabled and has the intel set as a module now whether it is the ones you need for that chipset is another matter. You can try if it works by putting vga=791 on the end of the line in your menu.lst for the kernel you are booting making sure that you have a failsafe line there so that you can boot with it if the framebuffer boot fails.

Your welcome you can use other numbers if you want to change the resoltuion/colour depth of the display. I found this page on the Gentoo wiki that has a table of the numbers you can use near the bottom.
