FC6 Kernel Panic
Hi all,
When booting our FC6 machine (dual boot winXp, FC6), we are now getting the following messages (truncated to just before the panic):
(what proceeded this event was a power outage)
<truncated info>
USB 1-1 Device not accepting address 2 error -71
unable to access resume device (/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol01)
Then it goes into panic. I tried Linux Rescue but it comes back and says that there are no Linux partitions and drops me to a prompt. fdisk -l does show a device with system linux (sda5). When I mount it, it has the kernel, image files, grub directory, etc. I go into LVM and do a vgscan and it reports nothing, same with pvscan. The grub.conf file shows root being at (hd0,4). So, I tried to do it manually (after umounting sda5)
Enter: Root (hd0,4)
response: Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83
Enter: Kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.18-1.2798.fc6 ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 rhgb quiet
response: [linux - bzImage, Setup = 0x1e00, size = 0x1e157e]
Enter: Initrd /Initrd-2.6.18-1.2798.fc6.img
response: Error 16: Inconsistent Filesystem Structure
I'm not anywhere near a Linux pro so is there any workarounds to this or is it a loss and start over?
I appreciate any help on this!
