Question Expecting OOPS dump but system just freezes

Hi,

I wanted to see how the run-time call stack looks like at a particular location in a function, so I just added BUG() call there and expected to get a OOPS call stack trace.
However my system just freezes with the NUM & CAPS lock keys flashing and there is no OOPS output on the screen.

Did I miss anything while building the kernel. The kernel version is 2.6.24.4 (Fedora 8) and nearly all the options under Kernel Hacking are checked.

Any pointer will be appreciated.
Thanks,

Regards,
Abhijit

Smile visible in text mode

Found the solution myself.
I could see it if I am in text mode. GUI mode simply freezes but text mode gives nice output.
