Error compiling 2.6.26 for ARM

I am trying to compile for an ARM-based board using PXA255, but get the following error messages when i compile:

LD .tmp_vmlinux1
arm-linux-ld: no machine record defined
arm-linux-ld: no machine record defined
drivers/built-in.o: In function `nvram_read_byte':
drivers/char/nvram.c:156: undefined reference to `rtc_lock'
drivers/built-in.o: In function `nvram_write_byte':
drivers/char/nvram.c:173: undefined reference to `rtc_lock'
drivers/built-in.o: In function `nvram_check_checksum':
drivers/char/nvram.c:191: undefined reference to `rtc_lock'
drivers/built-in.o: In function `nvram_read':
drivers/char/nvram.c:260: undefined reference to `rtc_lock'
drivers/built-in.o: In function `nvram_write':
drivers/char/nvram.c:293: undefined reference to `rtc_lock'
drivers/built-in.o:drivers/char/nvram.c:331: more undefined references to `rtc_lock' follow
make: *** [.tmp_vmlinux1] Error 1

when i comment the comment out the follwing two lines of /linux/arch/arm/kernel/, the "no machine record defined" error goes off.
ASSERT((__proc_info_end - __proc_info_begin), "missing CPU support")
ASSERT((__arch_info_end - __arch_info_begin), "no machine record defined")

Also in make menuconfig if i disable the CPU Frequency Scaling and Real Time Clock options then i m able to get the zImage created.but this zImage doesn't work for my board.

my arm-linux-gcc version is 3.4.4 and GNU ld version is 2.16.

How can I get out through this problem.
